> new collection - Moon Landings range

Here's our new Moon Landings collection for all you stargazers out there. We've got a fab new cushion, to go with our clock and two lovely art prints. All of the six Apollo landing sites are mapped out and the detail on these products is fantastic.

The cushion shows the moon with distressed typography, extracts quoted by Neil Armstrong as he touched the moon surface. It's 44cm diametre and printed on 100% cotton cambric, with black cotton backing and zip closure. It also comes with a feather pad.

The Art Prints, in white and warm grey shows the moon in pin sharp detail with more of Neil Armstrong iconic statements.

We think the range looks pretty cool - let us know what you think?

> NEW - Moon Landings Moon Clock

One small step for man... one large lunar wall clock...

Introducing our Moon Landings Clock. It's big, at 52cm diameter with pin sharp photographic detail and all the Apollo lunar missions mapped out. And we've even included The Eagle lunar module with the clock.

Although it appears a bright white in the night sky, it's surface is actually quite dark, filled with deep volcanic craters on one side which contrast with the brighter toned highlands and dramatic impact craters! All of which you can see on the clock.

> New Colliss & Quinton project - designing a lifestyle store in Burnham Market

We're very happy to share the news that our sister company Colliss & Quinton interiors has just been commissioned to design a new lifestyle store in Burnham Market, Norfolk, due to open in June. Our long standing clients Foras are opening this store together with a designer and bespoke kitchen company. Their goal is to create a 'walk in' shop where you can see and commission wonderful kitchen and bathrooms, stunning stone flooring, garden landscaping and interiors.

Situated on the High Street of beautiful, idyllic Burnham Market, we are designing the branding, fascia and interiors.

> new interior design commission

Working on a new interior design project for a 13 year old girl. This is my inspiration for her bedroom... soft neutral walls, natural woods and accents of grey and black warmed up with faux fur throws. The plan is to give her a 'studio' style room, with a place to sit and do homework, chill out and entertain her friends.

> stocking Oeuf NYC furniture

We are very happy today... we have big plans afoot to expand the company and add top quality furniture to our webshop. And, we have been accepted as one of just a handful of retailers to sell the amazing Oeuf range of products, including the some of the best cot designs on the market, brilliantly cool and contemporary bunk beds, chests of drawers, single beds, and storage shelves.

This is such exciting news. We use their furniture in our interior design projects and always recommend their products to customers asking for advice on what to buy. And now, we can sell direct!

Here are just a few examples of Oeuf's amazing line... and of course, you can see their wonderful grey Sparrow cot in the new WallScene wallpaper design we presented yesterday (bottom image).

The range will be available from April.

And here is the wonderful Sparrow cot with one of our new WallScene designs (also available in April).

> new WallScene design

Here's a work in progress WallScene design we are working on for a brand new collection. The new collection will feature photographs and paintings cut out and mixed together with pattern and texture to create ethereal montages with a hint of Victoriana. WallScenes, cushions and art prints will be included in the collection.

How lovely does the design look with the wonderful Oeuf 'Sparrow' crib - the best design on the market.

The new designs will also feature in our new Colliss & Quinton webshop, (for 'grown ups' showcasing recent interior design projects, wallpapers, furniture etc) almost ready for launch.

> clever ways to display artworks

Today, I thought I'd talk about nifty ways to display artworks, either posters and prints or your children's masterpieces.

How about using wooden clamp coat hangers? I love this look. Clamp individual artworks in the coat hangers and pop onto nails on the wall. Paint the walls the same colour as the wall to make them invisible or try using colourful hooks in bright colours to stand out and make a real feature!

A variety of hook sizes really add to the wall feature. Paint a collection of wooden hooks in acid colours for real pizzazz.
These wooden coat hangers with metal clips look fab. Fill a whole wall for real impact.
Or, how about using clip boards - we have these in our studio and they are fantastic for attractively displaying lots of bits and pieces. Posters, photos and paperwork look great grouped together, as shown in this image.

And the beauty about these ways to display? They are all easily and instantly updatable! Have fun and be creative.

Game changing paint choices

The choice of paint colour really defines how a wall looks. Dramatic, bright and light reflective, cosy and comforting or cool and contemporary.

Look at these two images of our Wood Print Wild Flowers giant wall stickers. One on Farrow & Ball's Railings and one on Sanderson's Griege Light. Two completely different looks but both with bags of style and impact.

Try painting one wall in a deep, rich, velvety tone - you can balance the drama by painting a soft tone on the rest of the walls or choose a mid tone of the main colour. Fresh white, contemporary furnishings look great with both paint colours. So too, do wood tones (which pick up on the pattern in the design) and vintage and metals look fab too! I can see a lovely wrought iron crib in a room like either of these, and if you want a hit of colour, try pink or turquoise for additional punch.

Interior design and new products...

Here's a tiny children's bedroom we designed recently - it fits a bunk bed, bedside unit and has built in wardrobes... that's the lot! But, it doesn't have to be bland and boring. We painted the room bright white but added a hit of bright acid yellow on the bunk bed ladder and on the wardrobe doors. A couple of our new wall stickers feature in the room too. A 'height chart' and 'Bonkers children' warning stickers (I love these!) They can go on a bedroom door, or point down to the children as shown here.

Available next week.

> Lunar Landings Moon cushion - off to print

You saw our fab new Lunar Landings Moon clock last week... here's the design for the cushion, heading off to print today.

The round cushion, measuring 44cm diametre shows the lunar surface with it's magnificent craters, ravines and volcanoes. Iconic quotes from Neil Armstrong's legendary Apollo 11 'Eagle' moon landing are overprinted in distressed typography in black and red with all the Apollo landing sites pin pointed in white. We've included a silhouette of the Eagle too as it is such a cool shape. The back of the cushion is finished in plain black cotton with a zip closure.

These will be in stock in April and we can't wait to see them! Let us know what you think of them.

> decorating with grey for a nursery

If you are considering designing a baby's nursery, don't automatically think of decorating it in white.. think of using shades and tones of grey instead. Grey can be as soft and gentle as white, but if has more pizzaz, more guts - it's a much more definite colour choice!

Our ethereal Lost Garden WallScene in soft putty grey is warm and enveloping and goes beautifully with classic or contemporary furnishings, and natural or white wooden furniture. As nurseries tend to be smaller rooms, the scale of this design will make a room feel enormous! And, when your baby is out of the cot, it works brilliantly in a growing child's bedroom too!

How about going darker? Don't be scared about using a dark grey - it really will add depth and tons of drama. You could initially try it out on one focal wall to start with if you feel a little hesitant. This room, with white cot and natural flooring looks lovely. Vintage frames on the wall contrast brilliantly with the contemporary cot and you can add pops of colour to really bring to life. Pinks, acid yellow, orange and turquoise look fabulous with dark grey and will really lift a room.

Mid grey has been used with white to keep it fresh in this room. See how well the black accessories work with the grey? As does the natural rustic wood flooring. And the contrast of warm yellow lifts the room and injects as warm cheery glow.

> space saving built in beds

If space is tight or you have a few children to house in one bedroom, then having custom built beds made may be a practical solution. It doesn't have to cost the earth either, but what you gain can be truly amazing.

With a small room, planning is key and the space has to be meticulously planned. We recently designed a high bed ontop of wardrodes and cupboard space in this snug bedroom (below) as there was no room for all the usual pieces of furniture. Building a bed on top of storage cupboards was the natural answer - the wardrobes took up the same amount of floor space as the bed alone, freeing up the rest of the room. The cupboards contain double clothes rails and loads of shelves, in fact, there's now more storage than having a freestanding wardrobe and set of drawers!

We then clad the bed in our scrapwood wallpaper and used a vibrant acid yellow to contast for the ladders. There was even room left for a desk and one of our wallcoverings on the opposite wall too.

I'd love to design some suspended beds like these! How gorgeous does this room look? Wooden platform beds are suspened from the rafters and because the floor space isn't taken up, it allows the beds to be layerd with room underneath for play or additional pieces of furniture.
This one is rather nifty too. Four children in one room and very stylishly done too! Thinking laterally and planning the space gives you the opportunity to be a little more creative (because you have to be) and the results can well worth it.
